MISSION & HISTORY.
The organization f2wald Initiative zur Prävention von Wald- und Flächenbränden e.V. was founded in 2021 by 15 committed young people - as part of a project work. Around 40% of forest and wildland fires in Germany are caused intentionally or unintentionally by humans; the number of unreported cases is much higher. Through educational work, we want to show the citizens of the district of Soest how they can act to prevent fires. Many ecosystems (especially the Arnsberg forest due to the bark beetle infestation) are more and more endangered by fire due to the increasing extreme weather events.
We create flyers, posters, web content, and talk to citizens in at-risk areas - all to protect our ecosystems.

What does "f2wald" actually mean?
The code F2 Wald is used by fire departments throughout Germany as an alarm code for large-scale vegetation fires, so the term represents a direct reference to firefighting forest firefighting.
